What Others Say
What others have to say about Sam Zager
“Zager will be District 41 public health advocate”
“I know firsthand how important it is to have health care providers helping to create and promote good policy in the state Legislature. Sam Zager will serve with wisdom, integrity and heart. Vote for him in the July 14 Democratic primary.”
Linda Sanborn, M.D., Democratic State Senator, Gorham
Portland Press Herald, Opinion section, Wednesday, May 13, 2020
“It is rare in Maine politics that a practicing physician steps forward to serve in public office. Sam Zager’s adult life has been about service. Public officials who listen to the people, are humble and who are in politics for the right reason — to serve the public, not themselves — are ultimately the most successful. Representative Zager has clearly demonstrated these qualities in the Maine Legislature.”
David Brenerman, Former Portland Mayor, City Councilor, and State Legislator
“Dr. Zager is a great listener and will be an excellent choice for District 116… He cares about equity in education, access to health care and economic development for all. He is a great advocate for the rights of minorities.”
Abdullahi Ahmed, Ph.D., District 116 Education and Immigration Community Leader
“At today’s Countdown to Care Lobby Day!, legislators will hear from Mainers like Dr. Sam Zager about the importance of access to healthcare and how implementing Medicaid Expansion will result in a healthier Maine.”

“Ensign Zager has performed admirably in his time here [in London]. His enthusiasm to learn, his positive rapport with colleagues, and well-applied capabilities have made tangible contributions to the Embassy. Having spent 43 years as a naval officer myself, I believe that Sam has a bright
future as an officer in the US Navy.
Sincerely,

“Twenty-six years ago, the ever-optimistic Sam Zager said to an audience of his teenaged peers, “If anyone in this room is gay, I hope they would feel comfortable to come out here, right now!” As a closeted 16 year-old, I squirmed in my seat and gave a very thinly-veiled proclamation about how hard it must be to be a closeted 16 year-old. The world is very different now because of people like you, Sam. I welled up when I saw this photo, not just because you weirdly haven’t aged at all, but because you have continued to be an optimist and an ally in extraordinary ways all these years later. That suit is something else – and so are you! Thanks for posting this, Tracy. And happy Pride to all of you!“
